British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) Yorkshire Centre organised a non-Championship event on Sunday 22nd March for its Yorkshire members and invited motor clubs to the famous Harewood Hill. This the longest speed hillclimb track in the UK, with a truly spectacular setting looking over the valley of the Wharfedale valley.
Practice Day event is used by some competitors as a chance to check out the cars and dust off the winter cobwebs before the Championship season gets underway next month.
Two big names from the British Hillclimb Championship (BHC) Will Hall and Wallace Menzies also joined in, getting a little practice on the hill. As the BHC visits Harewood Hill twice in 2026 (May and July), along with Harry Pick and other competitors from the BHC.
Damien Bradley driving his Subaru Legacy from the British Hillclimb Championship Tin Top challenge. Damien also competed last year in the Pikes Peak Hillclimb in the same car.
A number of Ferrari and Porsche owners also got in some extra practice and track time before their respective clubs visited the hill later on in the season.
Fastest Time of the Day went to Wallace Menzies driving his Gould GR59, who set a time of 49.87 seconds on his sixth and final run of the day.
Many thanks to BARC Yorkshire Centre for the opportunity to be track side again in 2026. Also not forgetting all the volunteer Marshals, Medical and the Darlington & District Rescue Team, along with all the back-office staff without which the events at Harewood Hill could not take place.
The first competitive event for the Harewood Speed Hillclimb Championship and Fastest Time of the Day (FTD) Award Series starts on Sunday 12th April 2026.
